The Giddy Hygge Writing Society: A Slow Writing Community
This isn’t your typical writing community.
There’s no pressure to publish. No deadlines looming. No comparison culture or endless talk about querying agents and rejection statistics.
This is a writing community that celebrates
the process, not the outcome.
Where the ritual of writing matters more than the result. Where warm drinks, soft blankets, flickering candles, and the quiet joy of putting words on a page are enough.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re not a ‘real writer’ because you haven’t published yet… if rejection has left you wondering why you even bother… if you’re exhausted by the pressure to produce and perform… hello, welcome. You’ve found your people.

WHAT IS THE GIDDY HYGGE WRITING SOCIETY?
The Giddy Hygge Writing Society is a slow writing community designed for writers who want to reconnect with the joy of writing. It’s for jaded writers burned out by the publishing industry, new writers overwhelmed by advice and struggling where to go next, and for all the writers in-between who don’t quite fee like they fit in anywhere and where the thought of a Zoom doing flash-fiction puts you in a cold sweat.
Think of it as a yoga practice for your writing life.
We’re not here to make you write faster, better, more lyrical or more whatever. We’re not here to make you publish more, or get an agent or chase validation. We’re here to help you fall in love with writing again, or fall in love with it for the first time.
What makes our writing community different:
- No pressure to publish – Your words are valid whether they live in a notebook or on a bestseller list
- Seasonal rhythm – We follow nature’s pace with winter hibernation, spring renewal, summer experimentation, and autumn reflection
- Process over product – We celebrate showing up, not word counts, writing sprints, finished novels…you get the idea!
- Cosy and kind – This is a warm, supportive space free from judgement
- Limited membership – Small, intimate community where you’re seen and valued
This is a writing community for people tired of ‘hustle culture’ in creative spaces. A place where slow writing practice is honoured, not rushed.

WHO THIS WRITING COMMUNITY IS FOR
For the Underconfident Writer
You want to write. You have stories swirling in your head and notebooks half-filled with ideas. But you don’t call yourself a ‘real writer’ when people ask about your writing because you haven’t published, haven’t queried agents, haven’t even finished a manuscript. You also haven’t been brave enough to put in on you Insta bio, or Facebook posts, because the ‘wrong’ people will see it, like Pete from work and what will he say? But still, you write, and your creativity needs a home.
Here’s what I need you to know: You are a real writer. Right now. As you are.
This writing community exists to give you permission to write on your own terms. To celebrate your messy first drafts, your 300-word morning pages, your permission to take your time. We’re not here to pressure you into producing. We’re here to support you in showing up.
You belong here if:
- You’re new to writing and feel overwhelmed by publishing advice
- You’re aspiring to write but don’t know where to start
- You write in stolen moments and feel guilty for not doing more
- You need a writing support community that doesn’t revolve around ‘making it’ (whatever that looks like)
- You want validation without the pressure to perform

For the Jaded Writer
You used to love writing. You really did.
But somewhere along the way, maybe after the 50th rejection, maybe after a bad experience with an agent or editor, maybe after years of putting yourself out there with nothing to show for it, the joy disappeared.
Now writing feels like a chore. Homework.
Or worse, it feels like evidence of your failure. You’ve been chewed up by the publishing industry and spat out bruised and wondering if any of it was worth it.
I see you. And I want you to know: You don’t have to give up on writing. You just need to rediscover why you started in the first place.
This writing community is your place to heal. To write without the weight of expectations. To remember that the act of creating is enough, regardless of whether anyone ever reads it.
You belong here if:
- You’re burnt out from rejection and industry pressure
- You’ve lost the joy of writing and want it back
- You’re tired of comparing yourself
- You need a writing community that celebrates process, not sales figures
- You want to write for you again, not for agents or algorithms

For the Slow Writer
You don’t write fast. You savour sentences. You rewrite the same paragraph five times not because it’s wrong, but because you want to feel it fully.
You’re drawn to mindful writing practices. The sensory details, the quiet mornings, the ritual of lighting a candle before you begin and taking a moment before you put any words on the page. You want your writing to be cosy, not competitive. Intentional, not rushed.
The internet tells you to write 2,000 words a day, publish regularly, build your platform. But that feels… exhausting. Like it’s missing the point.
This writing community honours slow.
We believe writing is a practice, not a productivity metric. We follow the seasons, and this looks like, resting in winter and experimenting in summer. We build sensory libraries of small moments. We write because it feels good, not because we need to hit a goal.
You belong here if:
- You practice mindful writing or want to learn how
- You’re interested in slow, seasonal rhythms for creativity
- You want a writing community that values quality over quantity
- You write for the love of words, not to build a brand
- You believe the process is the point
