I realised that if I want to give myself the prese

I realised that if I want to give myself the present of a complete first draft, I need to up my word count!

I know, I know, you’ve got a million things to do at the moment, but it struck me that I won’t get my first draft done this year if I don’t push a little harder.

So I’m aiming to write an extra hour in the evenings for these next two weeks, and if you have a project you’d like to complete before Christmas, have you worked out what you need to do to make it happen?

It’s that time of year where everyone wants to get together, the invites are coming in thick and fast, and if you’re like me, you end up saying ‘yes’ far too much.

I wrote about how saying ‘no’ is the best thing for both you, and your writing.
How conflict can be a brilliant thing when used at the right time, so don’t be afraid of it.

November! Over on a flash and now we’re about to

November! Over on a flash and now we’re about to enter the most wonderful time of the year 😬😬

I have the pre-Christmas anxiety - so much to do, so many projects to complete and everything MUST be full of sparkle and joy. The pressure! 😂

That aside, November was brilliant.

In no particular order:

⭐️ The toilets at The Ivy in Manchester are the best I’ve ever been to. Celebrating my son’s graduation and I have a million selfies as the light in there was so good.

⭐️ Beautiful #lakewindermere a view I will never tire of.

⭐️ Me in Woman magazine! Brilliant bit about me and how I started writing that I’ve had to blur due to copyright reasons, but you can still pick up a copy if you’re in the UK!

⭐️ Frosty walks with lots of talking to make sense of how many things are on the ‘to do’ list.

⭐️ Tarn Hows and the Herdwick sheep which are extremely cute 🐏

Bookish Christmas DIY craft decorations⭐️🎄🤶
But only use books ready for the bin!!

This book had been dropped in the bath, full of sand from the beach and was ready to be put into recycling, so this is a good way to make use of it this Christmas.

I’ve got three here as Christmas tree decorations but they would look great as a garland as well.

Bookish Christmas decorations are going to be my thing this year, I’ve decided. 😂

Snow is on the forecast this week, so throwback to

Snow is on the forecast this week, so throwback to this time last year when there was a huge amount of snow dumped in Windermere.

Tourists were stranded, people opened up their homes for those that couldn’t get to theirs, worked together to clear paths and roads and our small village made the news.

I adore the snow, but hate the chaos it can bring.

So wishing for a light dusting that makes me feel festive but not as much as last year where it got a little frightening 😬

It did, however, for that first night, make everywhere look pretty and magical.
